Alcohol - Alcohol is an extremely toxic compound and it put unnecessary  strain on the liver to break it down to harmless compounds.  Alcohol metabolism depletes many valuable nutrients particularly fatty acids, vitamin A, C, E thiamin and zinc and should be avoided during detoxification.

 

Caffeine - Caffeine are present in coffee, tea, chocolate, colas and some fizzy drinks.  High level of caffeine can be addictive, caused loss of calcium and increase risk of osteoporosis.  More than six cups a day could give rise to high blood pressure and kidney problems.

 

Fatty and Fried Foods - During detoxification and for long term healthy eating, it is best to cut down on saturated fat and food prepare using unhealthy method such as frying.  Frying food are high in fat and can increase blood cholesterol level and risk of hearth disease.  You can cut down on saturated fat by replacing it with unsaturated fat (such as olive oil) for cooking. 

 

Processed Foods - Much of the process manufactured food that we eat includes large amount of unhealthy saturated and trans fat, sugar, salt and chemical additives which may build up and produce harmful effects on the body.  Also the more a food is processed the more likely it is to have lost some of its nutrient value particular vitamins and fibers.

 

Salt - Small amounts of salt is vital for constituent of our diet.  But nowadays we eat far more than our body needed.   Most of the salt we eat are hidden in processed foods others are added during cooking.  Excessive consumption of salt can caused high blood pressure, kidney disease, strokes, stomach cancer and osteoporosis and may cause asthma condition to worsen.  It can also caused bloating and swollen ankles and fingers.

 

Sugar - Sugar is a very concentrated source of energy that is quickly absorbed into the blood stream, however it has little nutritional value.  Avoiding sugary foods and added sugar is therefore and easy way to cut calories without adversely affecting nutritional value especially if you are overweight.
